Note the delicate silk blue ribbon around the edges of the stays.
The second pair of stays are half boned stays from the V&A circa 1770-90.
The third pair of stays are a detail of the hand stitching. These are also from the V&A and are circa 1770-80.
Fast forward to 1880. This corset has a lovely detail embroidered into the gore and you can see that steel had replaced the whalebone of the earlier stays.
